Clifton Harris of Waldorf Awarded Charles County Scholarship

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (01/06/2014)(readMedia)--  Clifton Harris, a Waldorf, Md., native and senior at St. Mary's College of Maryland, was recently awarded the Charles County Scholarship. Established by Charles County Commissioners and private donors, the scholarship benefits academically talented students from Charles County.

At St. Mary's College of Maryland, Harris is studying art. "I've always been captivated by cartoons," says Harris. "The blend of aesthetic beauty and theatrical drama told through various episodes inspired me to one day become an animator. This scholarship helps to make my childhood dream come true."

Outside of the classroom, Harris is a member of S.T.A.R.S., the St. Mary's Triangle and Rainbow Society. He is interested in digital media and using tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to render digital images.

St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
