COLUMBUS OH (01/06/2012)(readMedia)-- The American Lung Association is Fighting For Air, and is looking for hundreds of enthusiastic climbers to join them for the second annual 2012 Fight For Air Climb.
On Saturday, January 28th, climbers, walkers, runners and supporters of the American Lung Association will climb the Rhodes Tower in downtown Columbus.
Participants will challenge themselves to climb 40 flights of stairs (880 steps) while raising money to help support the fight against lung disease through lung health research, education and advocacy in central Ohio.
Lung diseases such as asthma and COPD cannot yet be cured, but they can be managed. Making sure people know what's needed to take control of these lung diseases is one of the American Lung Association's top priorities. There are 35 million Americans living with lung diseases such as asthma, lung cancer and COPD. Lung cancer is America's #1 cancer killer.
The day's festivities begin bright and early with last minute registration starting at 8am. The Climbers will participate in the Full Climb where they will race or climb at their own pace starting at approximately 9:15 am. All festivities will be held at the Rhodes Tower, 30 East Broad St., Columbus.
Registration for the climb is $35. In addition to the registration fee, each participant must raise a minimum of $100 in donations for this major fundraising event of the American Lung Association in Ohio. Participants can also qualify for a variety of incentive prizes based on the amount of money they raise.
All Climbers who raise the minimum fundraising amount will receive a t-shirt and medal.
Sign-ups for the climb are well underway, but space is still available for individuals or teams, whether Corporate, Family & Friends or First Responder.
