Coker College Student Michelle Thomas Presents at Chemistry Conference

HARTSVILLE, SC (12/14/2011)(readMedia)-- Coker College student Michelle Thomas, of Lamar, S.C., recently co-presented with April Ruthven, of Hartsville, S.C., at the Southeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society (SERMACS) held in Richmond, Va., in October. Over 250 graduate and undergraduate students presented research at the conference.

For their research project, "Design modifications to a room-temperature chirped-pulse Fourier transform microwave (RT-CP-FTMW) spectrometer," Thomas and Ruthven changed the design of an instrument previously built at Coker, tested the new design and compared the results to the previous instrument. Thomas is a junior chemistry major at Coker.
