Coker College Students Present at State Teacher Convention
HARTSVILLE, SC (03/02/2012)(readMedia)-- Four local Coker College students co-presented at the annual South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (SCCTM) convention held Oct. 27-28 in Charleston, S.C.
Stephanie Barrett, Brittany Crowley, Lindsay Davis and Ashli Pollard co-presented a workshop entitled, "Number Sense, Probability and Problem Solving," which focused on how genuine problem solving opportunities can be included in the curriculum without neglecting traditional arithmetic. The students were assisted by Retired Coker College Professor of Education Joseph Rubinstein.
Barrett, Davis and Pollard, all of Chesterfield, S.C., are double majoring in elementary education and early childhood education. Crowley, of Patrick, S.C., is an elementary education major.
