Coker's Lau and Cohen Named to Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams

HARTSVILLE, SC (03/02/2012)(readMedia)-- HIGH POINT, N.C. – Coker College junior women's basketball players Amber Lau (Mt. Wolf, Pa.) and Jessica Cohen (Ladson, S.C.) have been named to the 2011-12 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams. Lau was a first team selection, while Cohen was a third team selection.
Lau, a guard, has been the Cobras offensive leader all season. She averaged more than 18 points per game with 5.7 rebounds per game. Lau scored 30 plus points twice during the season, including scoring a career high 37 against Queens on Feb. 21.
Cohen, a forward for the Cobras, was the team leader in rebounds with 8.2 per game and was second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game. She recorded eight double-doubles during the season and scored a career high 27 against Lees-McRae on Jan. 21.
Behind Lau and Cohen the Cobra women won 11 of their final 15 games, finishing with a record of 11-6 in league play.
Conference Carolinas announces the 2011-12 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams, Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Freshmen of the Year award winners in conjunction with the Conference Carolinas Basketball Tournament Championships taking place this week at league institutions. Head Coaches from conference member schools nominate and then vote on the award winners who represent the best of the best for the conference.
