Cole and Miranda Trebesch of Springfield are Named Minnesota's 2009 ASA/Dupont Young Leaders
MANKATO, MN (10/29/2008)(readMedia)-- The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA), the American Soybean Association (ASA), and Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc., a subsidiary of DuPont, would like to announce that Cole and Miranda Trebesch of Springfield have been chosen to represent Minnesota in the 2009 Young Leader Program.
"The Young Leader Program is an exceptional leadership training program," said Matt Widboom, soybean farmer from Worthington, and chair of the Minnesota Young Leader selection committee. "The Young Leader Program is recognized throughout agriculture for its longstanding tradition of identifying and cultivating the producer leaders who are shaping the U.S. soybean industry."
Cole has represented Brown County on the MSGA board for almost a year. Besides farming soybeans and other crops, the Trebesches custom raise hogs for Schwartz Farms Inc. and have started growing grapes for a winery.
A 2005 graduate of South Dakota State University (SDSU) with a degree in Agronomy, Cole also works part-time as a crop consultant in New Ulm. Miranda is currently pursuing a master's degree in Plant Science at SDSU and works as a Plant Health Specialist for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture during the summer months. When they aren't working, they are busy parenting their eight month old son, Oliver.
In the past, the first phase of Young Leader training has started prior to Commodity Classic. This year the program will begin in early December at Pioneer's Headquarters in Johnston, IA with the second phase taking place February 24-28, 2009 at Commodity Classic in Grapevine TX. The seminars offer the opportunity for participants to enhance their leadership skills, as well as meet and learn from other Young Leaders from around the United States and Canada.
The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association is a non-profit, farmer-controlled membership organization established in 1962. Its goal is to assure profitable soybean farming by monitoring government policies and supporting research and market development activities.
