Colin Nickerson Receives Final Convocation Award

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/28/2011)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 21, Hampden-Sydney College junior Colin William Nickerson received the Kearfott Stone Memorial Award, presented by C. Frank Archer, Jr. '73, Associate Professor of Fine Arts. The Kearfott Stone Memorial Award, established in 1939 by the parents of Kearfott Stone '35, is presented to a student who has rendered outstanding service to the cause of good music in the community.

Colin serves as Secretary of Circle K and is a member of the Hampden-Sydney Men's Chorus and the College Democrats. A computer science major, Colin graduated from Warwick High School and is the son of Lynden & Sonja Nickerson of Newport News.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
