College Council Seeks Distinguished Citizen Nominations

CANTON, NY (09/19/2016)(readMedia)-- SUNY Canton is seeking nominations for its annual College Council Distinguished Citizen Award.

Since 1976, the College has given this prestigious award in recognition of exceptional, unusual, and distinguished service to SUNY Canton, to the community, to the state, or to the nation.

Members of the community are invited to submit nominations for the award. Nomination packets must include: nomination letter from the nominator(s); name and position of the nominee; a description of the distinguished services, recognitions, facts, or characteristics that are pertinent or informative; brief biography of the nominee; and at least three supporting letters from non-family members. Optionally, additional supporting documentation can also be included.

Nominations, which are due on or before November 1, 2016, should be addressed to the President of the College or the Chairman of the College Council, 34 Cornell Drive, Canton, N.Y., 13617. Nominations via email can be sent to youngm@canton.edu.

The SUNY Canton College Council will announce the winner in the spring, and the award will be presented at the Faculty and Community Awards Dinner in May. The recipient's name will be prominently displayed on a plaque in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center.

Last year's recipient of the prestigious award was Thomas Coakley, retired vice president for administrative operations at St. Lawrence University and former Canton College Foundation Board administrator and member.
