College to Mark Mother Teresa's 100th Birthday with Lighting, Building Name
ATCHISON, KS (07/13/2010)(readMedia)-- As the world prepares to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Benedictine College has taken the lead by both illuminating campus buildings in blue and by naming its new nursing building the "Mother Teresa Center for Nursing and Health Education." The Catholic college, founded in 1858, added the lighting after the Empire State Building turned down a request to be lit in blue on August 26 in honor of Mother Teresa. In addition to the lighting and naming, the college will also offer a prayer for her canonization on Sept. 4 during the college's first home football game.
