Commander of 107th Airlift Wing Medical Command Promoted

NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, NY (08/13/2014)(readMedia)-- The commander of the New York Air National Guard's 107th Airlift Wing's Medical Group was promoted to colonel during a ceremony here on Saturday, August 9.

Col. Emily J. Desrosier, who has commanded the Medical Group since Sept. 2013, was promoted by 107th Airlift Wing Commander Col. John J. Higgins, who administered the oath of officer to her.

 Her husband, retired Air Force Colonel Bill McArdle, and her parents, Edward and Delores Desrosier of Roseau, Minnesota pinned on her new rank. Several other family and friends were present to witness the event, along with Brig. Gen. Anthony German, Chief of Staff of the New York Air National Guard.

Prior to this assignment, Desrosier was assigned to the 106th Rescue Wing as the Medical Administrative Officer. Her responsibilities included overall management, administration and plan development of healthcare operations. Desrosier also served as the Airfield Support Coordination Officer for nine years supporting the Space Shuttle Support Mission, working with the NASA Space Center as part of a team tasked with coordinating rescue efforts in the event of a space shuttle abort along the east coast.

The 107th Medical Group's mission is to provide medical support for the State of New York, Homeland Defense and Air Expeditionary Forces overseas.

In her remarks, Desrosier acknowledged that these are demanding times for the 107th Airlift Wing.

"Let's not forget, our nation is still at war...with much unrest throughout the world." She stated it was her "sincere commitment to lead the exceptional men and women of the Medical Group.....in accomplishing the mission and making a positive difference in the Wing," she said.
