Community Invited to Free Events at SUNY Delhi
DELHI, NY (02/08/2011)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi's Student Programming Board is hosting three special events that are open to the community free of charge during the months of February and March.
As part of SUNY Delhi's Black History Month, The Persuasions will perform Saturday, February 19, at 8 p.m. in The Okun Theatre, Farrell Hall Student and Community Center. Long known as the "Kings of A Cappella," The Persuasions, have been singing together since they first formed in Brooklyn in the early 1960s. They offer a legendarily eclectic repertoire that draws from Sam Cooke, The Temptations, Kurt Weill, Zappa and many others with a blend of genres ranging from country to blues to gospel to rock to jazz. The Persuasions have paved the way for groups like Boyz 2 Men, Take 6, and Rockapella, all of which claim The Persuasions as their influence.
Matt Roloff, star of "Little People, Big World,"will appear Tuesday, March 29, at 8 p.m. in The Okun Theatre. Matt, who was born with diastrophic dysplasia, his wife Amy, also a little person, and their four children have appeared in over 225 episodes that show the challenges they face at their home in Oregon. Matt will share the strategies that have led to his success and discuss how crafting your own destiny can lead an extraordinary life.
