AIKEN, SC (09/24/2018) The Aiken Civic Orchestra will present "All-Steinway, All Together," a concert Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m., in the University of South Carolina Aiken Etherredge Center which will benefit the All-Steinway effort on campus.

USC Aiken is currently in the process of becoming an All-Steinway School. The first major milestone in the effort was when the brand new Steinway 9' D concert grand piano, often used by the Aiken Civic Orchestra, arrived late last year.

Achieving All-Steinway status would be quite a coup for the Etherredge Center and the university's visual and performing arts department.

"The arrival of the Main Stage Steinway is the first step in USC Aiken becoming an All-Steinway School. Currently, only three institutions in the state hold that distinction: Converse, North Greenville University and Coker," said Judith Goodwin of the USC Aiken Advancement Office.

"We will be the only state university to become All-Steinway."

The Aiken Civic Orchestra is doing its part to help the university reach this goal. Under the leadership of Adam DePriest, the civic orchestra will present "All-Steinway, All Together," with proceeds going toward the All-Steinway campaign. The concert will feature guest artists Laura Tomlin on violin; Christine Crookall, cello; and pianist Clara Park.

"This will be a rousing concert you do not want to miss," DePriest said.

"There will be an exciting display of concerti movements including Elgar's Cello Concerto, Saint-Saens' Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, and Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole."

The piano trio will also come together for music of Beethoven (Archduke Trio) and Piazzolla (Four Seasons of Buenos Aires).

Tickets for "All-Steinway, All Together" are $30 for general admission, $25 for senior citizens, and $10 for students. Call the Etherredge Center box office for tickets at 803-641-3305 or go to: https://etherredge.usca.edu/aiken-civic-orchestra-all/2018-10-25-19-30 .

"We are eternally grateful that the Aiken Civic Orchestra is donating proceeds of this concert to the All-Steinway campaign," Goodwin said.
