SEWARD, NE (08/31/2018) Concordia University, Nebraska, has been recognized as a major name in academic excellence and Christian education with its inclusion into The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.

Concordia Nebraska has been admitted as one of only two Nebraska schools to be added to the CCCU's listing. It is also the second school in the Concordia University System to be accepted as a CCCU member. While there are more than 4,700 colleges and universities in the United States, only 150 are part of the CCCU. In total, 183 schools from 20 different countries worldwide are included in the CCCU.

According to the CCCU website, membership requires the comprehensiveness, accreditation and quality of a Christ-centered higher education that "transforms lives by faithfully relating scholarship and service to biblical truth." This membership increases the federal advocacy of Concordia as part of a larger association of Christian institutes, provides students with the opportunity to study abroad through the BestSemester programs at Christian schools around the world and includes Concordia in the greater national and international conferences of CCCU.

Last year, Concordia University, Nebraska, ranked #10 in the Midwest region on the Great Schools, Great Prices list compiled by U.S. News & World Report. Concordia Nebraska, is the highest ranked higher education institution in the Concordia University System, which comprises nine colleges and universities affiliated with The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Concordia Nebraska offers more than 75 undergraduate majors and programs, as well as master's degrees in multiple areas, including education, public health, human services, athletics administration and business administration. And as CCCU emphasizes, Concordia strives to include faith in every aspect of education and student life.

"We're thrilled to join the nearly 183 Christian college and universities worldwide who are committed to the CCCU's mission to advance Christ-centered higher education," said Rev. Dr. Brian Friedrich, president of Concordia University, Nebraska. "Their mission aligns with our mission and reinforces our Promises of a Lutheran Education. As we continue to clearly and boldly articulate our commitment to proclaiming and living the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, we look forward to this new opportunity to come alongside many of the finest Christian colleges and universities."
