NORFOLK, VA (06/22/2010)(readMedia)-- Physicians for Peace paid special tribute to Congressman Bobby Scott of Virginia's 3rd Congressional District during a recent report to stakeholder's dinner.

According to Ron Sconyers, President and CEO of Physicians for Peace, Scott was singled out for "his extraordinary leadership and representation of the people of the 3rd District of Virginia and for his tireless support of Physicians for Peace to extend America's hand of friendship around the globe by providing healthcare training and education to the world's underserved populations."

Scott has been a long time supporter of the work being done by Physicians for Peace in developing countries. When presented his plaque in recognition of his tireless public service, Scott cited Physicians for Peace "as extraordinary diplomats who use medical education to enhance good will, but also, importantly, to help serve as a deterrent to the seeds of terrorism."
