Cooks Come Out of Their Shells in Fair Competition
DES MOINES, IA (08/24/2011)(readMedia)-- The versatility of the egg was showcased in the Egg-Ceptional Eggs Cooking Contest judged Saturday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Rebecca Howe of Des Moines won First Place Overall for her Lemon Raspberry Tart. Sue Olson of Des Moines earned Second Place Overall for her Cheddar-Veggie Appetizer Torte and Lynn Jeffers of Jesup claimed Third Place Overall for her Mediterranean Eggplant Omelet.
Entries were judged on flavor, appearance, texture and ease of preparation. Each entry had to contain at least four whole eggs.
