Craig Tyer of Leonardtown Awarded Joseph and Lesley Urgo Endowed Scholarship

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (01/06/2014)(readMedia)--  Craig Tyer, a Leonardtown, Md., native and senior at St. Mary's College of Maryland, was recently awarded the Joseph and Lesley Urgo Endowed Scholarship.

At St. Mary's College of Maryland, Tyer is studying history and museum studies. He is interested in paleontology, archeology and American politics.

Outside of the classroom, Tyer volunteers as a docent at Historic Sotterley Plantation and is involved with the site's public events. His other interests include film criticism and zoology.

St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
