Violinist Ioan Harea Presents Concert Featuring Works by Vivaldi, Franck & Crane Composer Gregory Wanamaker

Ioan Harea will perform in concert on April 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall at SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music.

POTSDAM, NY (03/28/2014)(readMedia)-- The Crane School of Music Faculty Recital Series will continue on Tuesday, April 8, with a concert featuring violinist Ioan Harea at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall.

The performance at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will include works by Antonio Vivaldi, Henryk Wieniawski, César Franck and Crane composer Gregory Wanamaker.

This event is free, and the public is invited to attend.

About the performer:

Ioan Harea has been a prominent presence on the Canadian music scene since moving to Ottawa from Venezuela in 1986. A brilliant and versatile violinist, Harea has performed as soloist and as a chamber musician in Canada, the United States, Venezuela, Italy, France, Romania and Spain. He is the founder and leader of the Harea String Quartet and the Virtuosi Orchestra, which have performed for Prime Minister of Canada Paul Martin and U.S. President George W. Bush. As well as maintaining a private violin studio in Ottawa, Harea is an instructor of violin at The Crane School of Music, and is a member of the Orchestra of Northern New York. Harea has a recording contract with Ottawa record label Dark Skippy Records, and has recorded "Ballade," "Classic Gypsy," "Sentimental Strings," "Versatility" and "Unaccompanied."
