Crane School of Music Professor of Trombone Mark Hartman will present a faculty recital on Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.

POTSDAM, NY (09/19/2014)(readMedia)-- The Crane School of Music Faculty Recital Series will continue on Wednesday, Sept. 24, with a concert featuring Mark Hartman, trombone, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.

Hartman will present a recital of French trombone solo literature. There will be a variety of styles, with selections by French composers Maurice Franck, Marcel Bitsch, Eugene Bozza, Jose Berghmans, Cecile Chaminade and Charles Chaynes. Crane faculty member Dr. David Heinick will perform as a collaborative pianist.

This event is free, and the public is invited to attend.

About the performers:

Mark Hartman has been the trombone studio instructor at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music since 1985. During his tenure, he has been a soloist with bands and orchestras throughout the Northeast and presented numerous recitals and clinics at major conventions, universities and colleges. He has performed or presented at International Trombone Festivals, numerous New York State School Music Association conferences, and at both the Summit Brass Music Festival and the Skyline Brass Music Festival.

Dr. David Heinick joined the faculty at The Crane School of Music in 1989. Previously, he taught at St. Mary's College of Maryland and the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. He holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the Catholic University of America. He is the composer of more than 50 works for a variety of instrumental and vocal media, ranging from unaccompanied flute to chorus and symphony orchestra. His music is published by SeeSaw Music, Dorn Publications, Nichols Music, and Kendor Music; it has been performed throughout the United States, and broadcast on both National Public Radio and the CBC.
