Crane School of Music Hosts String Chamber Music Competition

SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music Honors Professor Emeritus with Chamber Competition

POTSDAM, NY (03/27/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will host a string chamber music competition for its students tomorrow. The concert will be offered on Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.

The inaugural competition will honor Professor Emeritus Richard Stephan, as a tribute to his contributions to Crane and its string program. Stephan taught string bass, conducted the orchestra and was a renowned composer and arranger of string literature during his many years at the College.

The chamber music competition will highlight the best of the string department at The Crane School of Music, while celebrating Stephan's long legacy.

The competition concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow, at which the first and second prize winners will be announced.
