Crane School of Music Presents Unique Clarinet Choir Concert for Halloween

Crane Clarinet Choir to Perform Wide Variety of Works in Oct. 31 Performance at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music

POTSDAM, NY (10/17/2014)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will offer a unique Halloween concert featuring the Crane Clarinet Choir on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall.

The concert will be a celebration of varied works arranged for the clarinet -- from Romantic classics to rock 'n roll anthems.

The performance will open with the fourth movement from George Frideric Handel's "Music for the Royal Fireworks," titled "La Rejouissance." This will be followed by Percy Grainger's "Shepherd's Hey," and selections from Ralph Vaughan Williams' "English Folk Song Suite."

The Crane Clarinet Choir will then proceed with Felix Mendelssohn's Concertpiece No. 1 in D-minor, Op. 113, skipping ahead in time to perform the theme from "The Pink Panther," by Henry Mancini. In another juxtaposition, the choir will present an arrangement of Franz Schubert's beloved classic, "Ave Maria," followed by Glenn Miller's 1939 piece, "Moonlight Serenade."

The concert will conclude with Gordon Jacob's four-movement work, "Wind in the Reeds," ending with Queen's hit, "Bohemian Rhapsody," written by Freddie Mercury.

This concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
