Crane School of Music Welcomes Violinist Julie Lyonn Lieberman

Guest Artist Presents Concert Feb. 7 at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music

POTSDAM, NY (01/25/2013)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will present a concert featuring guest artist Julie Lyonn Lieberman on violin, on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.

This event is free, and the public is invited to attend.

About the performer:

Julie Lyonn Lieberman is an eclectic styles specialist, a "playing healthy" maven, an improvising violinist, singer, composer, educator, recording artist, author and producer. Formerly on faculty at Juilliard, New York University, the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and William Paterson College, she is a D'Addario Elite Clinician, a composer and a frequent masterclass clinician.

Lieberman is on the American String Teachers National Curriculum Committee and is the artistic director for the summer program, Strings Without Boundaries. She is the author of eight music books, two National Public Radio series, six DVDs and more than 50 magazine articles. Her national eco-music project, "The Green Anthem," debuted in 2010, offering a free curriculum for music educators. The Music Educators National Conference included the song, "The Green Anthem," in the World's Largest Concert in March 2010, when 6 million students sang the piece.

Lieberman has performed her original music on and off Broadway, throughout the U.S., Canada and in Europe. She has been the composer-in-residence for four seasons at the City Center Manhattan Theatre Club's Writers in Performance series. Her music for Alec Baldwin and Steve Lawrence's production of "The Devil and Daniel Webster" aired on WNYC Radio.
