POTSDAM, NY (03/13/2017) (readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam's oldest choral ensemble, the Phoenix Club, and the Men's Ensemble will present the works of Handel, Schubert, Esenvalds, Tormis and Clearfield during a concert on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Hall at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music.
Under the batons of Dr. Rebecca Reames and Dr. Nils Klykken, The Crane School of Music's Phoenix Club and Men's Ensemble will perform a varied repertoire of choral music. Student conductors Cameron Hance (Men's Ensemble) and Holden Maiorana (Phoenix Club) will make their conducting debuts.
About the performers:
Founded in 1894, the Phoenix Club is the oldest choral ensemble on campus. The women's choir is comprised of SUNY Potsdam students who are involved in a variety of majors. First-year female voice students are an essential part of this group. In addition to performing as an independent ensemble, singers have combined musical experiences with other Crane choral and instrumental ensembles. The Men's Ensemble is the primary choir for all incoming freshman male voice students. In addition, there are a significant number of instrumentalists and liberal arts majors.
This concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
This concert will be broadcast live on the SUNY Potsdam website at the performance time. To view the program and see other upcoming streaming performances, visit www.potsdam.edu/academics/Crane/streaming.
