Creative Cheese Curd Cook Wins Iowa State Fair Title

DES MOINES, IA (08/29/2017) (readMedia)-- Jennifer Bartles of Des Moines won first place and a $100 gift card in the Cinnamon Ridge Favorite Cheese Curd competition, judged August 10, at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Bridget Lottman of Norwalk claimed second place and a $75 gift card. Pamela Reynolds of Norwalk earned third place and a $50 gift card.

Contestants were tasked with creating an appetizer using cheddar cheese curds.

Entries were judged on taste, appearance and originality

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 177 divisions, 769 classes and over 9,856 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging was held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
