Curry College Celebrates National Poetry Month on April 12
MILTON , MA (04/11/2012)(readMedia)-- The Curry College Humanities Department, Curry Arts Journal and Student Activities Organization will host an evening of poetry to celebrate National Poetry Month and the 100th anniversary of Poetry magazine at 6 p.m. on April 12th at the Student Center on the Milton campus.
Feature poets will include Professor Gabrielle Regney, Michael J. Alleman, Professor of English at Louisiana State University-Eunice, and Daniel Wolkow, an artist, musician, and poet who currently teaches at Eastern New Mexico State University in Roswell, NM.
Following the feature poet readers, the audience is welcome to participate in an open mic starting at 7pm. During the open mic portion, audience members may choose to read works of original composition or a poem from the Poetry magazine archives (http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/archive).
Curry College, founded in 1879, is a private, four-year, liberal arts based institution located on 135 acres in Milton, MA. Curry extends its educational programs to a continuing education branch campus in Plymouth. Curry offers 20 undergraduate degrees as well as graduate degrees in business, education, criminal justice and nursing, with a combined enrollment of approximately 4,150 students. The student body consists of approximately 2,000 traditional undergraduate students, 1,650 continuing education and 500 graduate students. Curry College students come from 31 states and 7 countries.
