Curry College to host 'Painting in the Margins,' featuring rights activist Thaer Abdallah

MILTON , MA (02/04/2012)(readMedia)-- The Curry College Fine and Applied Arts and Politics and History departments will co-sponsor, 'Painting in the Margins: Displacement and the Refugee Experience,' a discussion with Palestinian artist and human rights activist Thaer Abdallah. In addition to sharing stories about his experience living as a displaced refugee, Abdallah will feature a colorful exhibition of his paintings.

Abdallah left Iraq in 2005, leading a group of threatened Palestinian families to safety after their community in Baghdad suffered numerous kidnappings, torture and assassinations at the hands of various militias. He spent almost three years living in refugee camps in Syria and Greece.

"Painting in the Margins" will take place in the Parents' Lounge on the Curry College campus at 7:00 p.m. on February 28, 2012.
