DEC Reschedules Public Meetings on St. Regis, Hurricane and Jay Mt. Areas

ALBANY, NY (02/26/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has rescheduled two public meetings that had been canceled due to poor weather.

A public meeting on the draft amendment to the St. Regis Canoe Area Unit Management Plan (UMP) will now be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, in the Freer Science Building Auditorium at Paul Smiths College, located at the intersection of Route 86 and Route 30 in Paul Smiths.

A public meeting on the draft UMPs for the Jay Mountain Wilderness and the Hurricane Mountain Primitive Area will now be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, in the auditorium of the Keene Central School, located at 33 Market Street in Keene Valley.

Both meeting facilities are wheelchair accessible. Please provide any requests for specific accommodation in advance to DEC at 518-897-1248.

A presentation on Adirondack Park Fire Tower Study will be made at both meetings. Followed by a presentation on the draft UMPs or draft amendment, after which public comments will be taken. Comments for the draft UMPs or the draft amendment will be taken at either meeting.

Copies of the documents are available on compact discs (CD) at DEC offices in Albany, Herkimer, Warrensburg, and Ray Brook. To request a copy, e-mail r5ump@gw.dec.state.ny.us or call 518-897-1291.
