DHCR Simplifies Website and Email Addresses
ALBANY, NY (06/13/2008)(readMedia)-- In an effort to make its website more convenient and easier to find and use, the State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) is changing its domain name, or Internet address, from www.dhcr.state.ny.us to a simpler and less confusing version: www.nysdhcr.gov.
Email addresses for DHCR staff will also change, from JDoe@dhcr.state.ny.us to JDoe@nysdhcr.gov .
The change will take effect on Monday, June 16.
DHCR Commissioner Deborah VanAmerongen said her agency “has taken a number of steps in the last year to improve our outreach to and interaction with our clients and partners -- the tenants, landlords, developers, housing agencies and taxpayers of New York State. We believe the new user-friendly website and email addresses will help our clients find the information they need.”
The website will still be available under the old address, and email will be delivered to both the new and old addresses.
The address change is just the latest step to improve outreach and enhance public interaction at DHCR. In the past year, the agency has:
- Created owner and tenant advisory forums to receive input and feedback from key stakeholders;
- Revised brochures and fact sheets using plain language;
- Provided speakers to appear at community and legislative meetings; and
- Placed many forms and applications on-line and allowed electronic filing.
