DMU Collects Cash for United Way, Food for DMARC Pantries, Mentors for Kids
DES MOINES, IA (11/23/2009)(readMedia)-- Des Moines University's Community Service Committee is celebrating a bountiful autumn, a giving staff and several successful campaigns.
- This year's annual United Way campaign recently concluded with a grand total of $20,438 collected for United Way of Central Iowa.
- An increased push for ongoing monthly food drives has totaled 12,062 food items donated, thus far in 2009, to the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) food pantries.
- At least four new volunteers are being added to the on-going mentorship program to help Perkins Elementary students with reading and math.
