DMU Students to Collect for Food Pantry During Beggars' Night in Des Moines
DES MOINES, IA (10/26/2009)(readMedia)-- Don't be disgusted if you get older-than-usual trick-or-treaters on your porch Friday evening. A group of about 60 Des Moines University students will be collecting non-perishable food items during beggars' night in Des Moines to give to those in need.
They will be knocking on doors between 6 and 8 p.m. in the Arbor Peaks, Drake, Greenwood Historic, Ingersoll Park, North of Grand, Salisbury Oaks, Westwood and Woodland Heights areas. (Using the neighborhood boundaries on www.dmneighborhoodresources.org.)
Any non-perishable canned or boxed food items would be appreciated. All collected goods will be donated to the Des Moines Area Religious Council's emergency food pantry. If you are interested in donating, please have your donation ready by the door or in a grocery sack.
If you won't be home Friday evening or the group misses your house, email Jeremy.D.Defoe@dmu.edu to have items collected.
