HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (03/26/2013)(readMedia)-- On Friday, March 8, 2013, Damien Rashad Sharp, a sophomore at Hampden-Sydney College, was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Student Government for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Damien is a member of the President's Men, the Pre-Law Society, and the service organization Rotaract. A government major, Damien is a graduate of Fauquier High School and is the son of Gaynita Sharp and Brian Luther of Warrenton.
As Secretary-Treasurer, Damien will be responsible for managing the finances of Student Government and will chair the Student Finance Committee. Student government, first introduced at the College in 1886, is an historic and respected institution.
A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
