Daniel Griswold Presents "The Future of American Workers in a Global Economy" at LVC

ANNVILLE, PA (01/25/2011)(readMedia)-- Daniel Griswold, director of trade policy studies for the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C., will discuss "The Future of American Workers in a Global Economy" on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. in Lebanon Valley College's Miller Chapel. Sponsored by the Department of Business and Economics, the program is presented by the annual Fred Springer Lecture in International Business Management.

Griswold is the author of three major studies on globalization, trade, and immigration, including Mad About Trade: Why Main Street America Should Embrace Globalization. He has written articles for major newspapers, appeared on CNBC, C-SPAN, CNN, PBS, and Fox News, and testified before House and Senate committees. Prior to joining the Cato Institute, he served as an editor at the Colorado Springs Gazette and a congressional press secretary.

He completed a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and earned an economics diploma and master's degree in politics of the world economy from the London School of Economics.

An informal meet and greet with Griswold is scheduled for 6 p.m. outside Chapel 101.

The Springer lecture program was endowed by Fred and Margaret Springer in 1987 in honor of the education their daughter, Margaret (Meg) Timmons, received while a student at LVC. More than 20 lectures have been made possible since the program's inception.
