David Collins Named CCIW Special Teams Player of the Week

Carthage College football kicker and punter David Collins was selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

The sophomore took the field four times on punt duty this past Saturday in the Red Men's 36-7 win over Carroll, netting a total of 172 yards with a 43.0 average. His longest punt of the day went a career-best 50 yards. Collins came on to kick following three touchdowns for Carthage, going a perfect 3-3 on extra points, while kicking off four times and recording three touchbacks.

This marks the first CCIW player of the week honor for the Carthage football team this season, and first since Kameron Stubblefield won defensive player of the week on October 1, 2018. The Red Men's last special teams player of the week winner was Tommy Bazarek, who won the award on October 2 in 2017.

Carthage will host Washington University this Saturday at Art Keller Field, with kickoff scheduled for noon.
