Davis' Leah Whiten recipient of two scholarships at East Central University

Leah Whiten, right of Davis, was the recipient of the Audre Chapman Scholarship and the Dortha Luttrell Fenton Early Childhood Scholarship during East Central University Department of Education's recent 2018 Spring Awards Luncheon. Chapman attended ECU from January 1927 to May 1928 and received a lifetime certificate. She taught in both Oklahoma and Arizona for several years. This scholarship was established in 1986 with a $10,000 donation from her family. She also established several scholarships at the University of Arizona. This scholarship is given to a returning student majoring in education. The Dortha Luttrell Fenton Scholarship was established in honor of Fenton by her son Brad and other family members. The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the department. Presenting Whiten with the award is Dr. Phyllis Isaacs, chair of the ECU Department of Education.
