Delicious Dips Win State Fair Awards
DES MOINES, IA (09/11/2024) (readMedia)-- The top savory dips were put to the test in the Bring Your Best Dip competition judged Wednesday, August 14, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.
Sharon Gates of Chariton won first place and a $175 cash award in the Hot Dip class of competition. Jenna Brady of Runnells earned second place and $50. Kyle Barton of West Des Moines claimed third place and $25.
Susan Jones of Winterset won first place and $175 in the Cold Dip class. Pamela Reynolds of Norwalk claimed second place and $50. Ann Gillotti of Ankeny earned third place and $25.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
