NEWTON, MA (02/25/2013)(readMedia)-- Shawn Tule, a dental hygiene major from Gardner, MA, is currently one of three males among 43 dental hygiene students at Mount Ida College. Tule was inspired to study dental hygiene as a result of a line drive accident in baseball at the age of 13. He faced serious injury to his mouth and, ultimately, knew that he wanted to help patients begin smiling with confidence just as he did.
In the Dental Hygiene program, students receive a career-focused education, blending technical, clinical, and communication skills. Through the guidance of professors, students excel in moving toward their future goals. For Tule, the program serves as a stepping stone for him to gain the experience and skills he needs to attend dental school in the future.
Additionally, Tule's active on-campus involvement has lead to the creation of the Pre-Med Society at Mount Ida. Tule is the Co-Founder and President of this club. On top of that, off-campus, Tule is gearing up for the 2013 American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) conference in Boston. He is applying for a position as a Student Delegate who represents all student members of the ADHA.
