Des Moines Cook Wins Iowa State Fair Corn Cooking Title
DES MOINES, IA (08/24/2010)(readMedia)-- Suellen Calhoun of Des Moines won First Place Overall with Marinated Fresh Corn Bites in the Fresh Corn Cuisine competition judged Saturday at the 2010 Iowa State Fair.
Competitors were challenged to create dishes that used at least one cup of fresh sweet corn as the main ingredient.
Marianne Carlson of Jefferson won Second Place Overall with Calico Corn with a Kick and Cristen Clark of Runnells claimed Third Place Overall with Corn Muffin Thumbprints.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the recently-renovated Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
