Des Moines Resident Earns Blue Ribbon in State Fair Food Contest

DES MOINES, IA (08/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Cindie Robinette-Anderson of Des Moines placed first in the Cooking Fast, Healthy and Tasty contest judged Saturday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.

West Des Moines resident Ginger Johnson placed second in the competition, and Laura Larson of Des Moines took third.

Contestants were asked to enter a dessert that was easy to prepare, tasty and cost conscious. Entries were judged on creativity, taste, appearance, and being "fast and frugal."

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
