CANTON, NY (03/24/2014)(readMedia)-- Freshman Dylan Dix (Rochester, NY) made the most of his first career start stopping 26 shots on the day but it was not enough as visiting Morrisville State College cruised to a 14-2 victory on a chilly Monday afternoon in Canton.

Dix's 26 saves are the most by any Roo goalie in at least the last three seasons. The previous high was set last Wednesday when Corey Spuck (Rochester, NY) made 21 stops against Medaille.

Morrisville State opened the game scoring the contest's first three goals. SUNY Canton got on the board with just eight seconds left in the first quarter as Taylor Caswell (Potsdam, NY) slotted his fifth of the season past Mustang net minder Chris Fiore to make it 3-1 after one.

The visitors controlled the second frame outscoring SUNY Canton 5-0 to take a commanding 8-1 lead into break. Eight different players scored in the first half for Morrisville.

Chris Gamble (Carthage, NY) posted his 12th goal of the season early in the third quarter to get the Roos within 9-2 but the hosts would go scoreless the rest of the game as Morrisville State claimed the 14-2 victory. The Mustangs controlled shots on goal (40-13) and ground balls (63-36).

Dix made 26 stops for the Roos in his first start of the season, while Fiore and Tyler Catalfano each played a half for Morrisville combining to turn aside 11 shots. Andrew Bowes (Irondequoit, NY) had a strong game defensively leading SUNY Canton with four caused turnovers and four ground balls, while Devin Gruneisen (Potsdam, NY) scooped up a team-high five ground balls.
