Don't Nationalize the Auto Industry
No Car Czar a Start
ALBANY, NY (02/17/2009)(readMedia)-- Independent and libertarian candidate for New York's 20th Congressional District, Eric Sundwall, calls on Washington lawmakers to do nothing for General Motors or Chrysler.
Sundwall contends; "President Obama is correct not to appoint a "Car Czar". These jingoistic titles and cursory appointments have nothing to do with a strong viable auto industry. If Mitt Romney gets to decide what we drive, look for the return of the Pacer."
The auto industry has been a global effort for decades. Companies like Honda and Toyota employ thousands of Americans and provide the consumer with high quality products. Bailing out GM and Chrysler will only continue to foster a political climate which does not accept market failure. Libertarian economists like Nobel Laurette Freidrich Hayek understood that company failures are natural and create a better more robust market for the consumer.
Sundwall concludes, "Some bureaucrat crunching the numbers is not what is going to sell the Chevy Volt. These bailouts are pure politics, plain and simple. If voters want some voice for sanity in Washington they ought not to send bailout apologists down there."
