Don't miss free goodies, OMM treatments at Aug. 16 DMU Day at State Fair

Take a health quiz, earn a free frisbee!

DES MOINES, IA (08/10/2009)(readMedia)--

In between trying s'mores-on-a-stick and visiting the Varied Industries building on Sunday, August 16, stop by the Des Moines University tent on the Grand Concourse.

"We are proud to sponsor Des Moines University day at the fair," said Kendall Dillon, director of marketing at DMU. "As Iowa's largest medical school, we are very concerned with the health of Iowans. What better place to connect with Iowans than at our great state fair?"

At the Des Moines University (DMU) tent, visitors can take a health quiz for a chance to win a collapsible frisbee. They can also take home a free first aid kid, bottle of hand sanitizer and pen. Also, the much-loved temporary tattoo that looks like stitches will again be available. Materials about all nine academic programs and the DMU Clinic will also be available.

DMU students and physicians from the Des Moines University Clinic will be offering osteopathic manual medicine (OMM) treatments – a hands-on adjustment to the skeletal system – from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to Sunday's tent on the concourse, DMU physicians and students will be doing COPD screenings with the American Lung Association in Farm Bureau Park on August 19 and 20.
