Don't miss free goodies, health screenings at Aug. 15 DMU Day at State Fair

Take a health quiz, earn a free first aid kid!

DES MOINES, IA (08/10/2010)(readMedia)-- In between trying tiramisu-on-a-stick and visiting the Varied Industries building at the Iowa State Fair on Sunday, August 15, stop by the Des Moines University tent on the Grand Concourse and take your photo as a doctor in scrubs or white coat.

"We are proud to sponsor Des Moines University day at the fair," said Kendall Dillon, director of marketing at DMU. "As Iowa's largest medical school, we are very concerned with the health of Iowans. What better place to connect with Iowans than at our great state fair?"

At the Des Moines University (DMU) tent, visitors can take a health quiz for a chance to win a first aid kit or reusable grocery bag. They can also take home a band-aid dispenser and pen. Also, the much-loved DMU temporary tattoo has an anatomical heart on it this year.

DMU students and staff from the Des Moines University Clinic will be offering free blood pressure and body mass index screenings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the tent.

In addition to Sunday's tent on the concourse, DMU physicians and students will be doing screenings with the American Lung Association in Farm Bureau Park on August 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
