Dover's Kim Herring Becomes Career Leader in Goals at Lake Forest College

The senior scored two goals in a 4-3 win at Concordia (Wisconisin) on Tuesday

LAKE FOREST, IL (11/10/2011)(readMedia)-- The Lake Forest College women's hockey team won 4-3 at Concordia University Wisconsin Tuesday night. Senior Kim Herring (Dover, N.H./Groton School) scored twice in the third period and now has a program record 55 goals in her career.

Herring's second score of the game broke a 3-3 tie with 4:14 to play in the contest and raised her school record for game-winning goals to 14. Junior Angie Chronis assisted on the score.

Herring scored the goal that broke Courtney DeHoey's previous record of 53 scores just 73 seconds into the third period and broke a 2-2 tie at the time. That score was assisted by freshmen Emily Wybo and Morgan Pope. Herring leads Lake Forest with five goals and six points this season and is now eight career points away from DeHoey's school record of 97.

Lake Forest scored a pair of goals in the opening period to take a 2-0 lead. Junior Jenn Caldwell lit the lamp for the first time this year at 2:34 with sophomore Maeve Connelly and freshman Laura Reckdenwald each picking up an assist. Senior Jessica Dare then scored an unassisted goal, her second of the season, at 12:21.

Concordia Wisconsin out-shot the Foresters 8-6 in the opening period and 11-6 in the second. The Falcons finally got on the scoreboard on a power play goal at the 17:23 mark of the second and then tied the score less than two minutes later.

After Herring regained the lead for Lake Forest early in the third period, the home team tied the score again at the five-minute mark.

The Foresters put 14 shots on goal in the final 20 minutes, two more than the Falcons. Lake Forest sophomore goaltender Stacey Dierking finished with 28 saves in the contest and is now 1-1-1 on the year.

Lake Forest evened its overall record at 2-2-1 and raised its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 1-2-0.
