CANTON, NY (03/31/2014)(readMedia)-- Shannon Dowling (Oneida, NY) of the softball team and Tressa Goolden (Canton, NY) of the women's lacrosse team have been named this week's Roos of the Week.

Dowling had a remarkable weekend for the softball team hitting 6-for-9 from the plate with five runs and 7 RBIs in a doubleheader against the College of New Rochelle. The junior hit .667 from the plate with a home run, triple, 11 total bases and a 1.222 slugging percentage. She leads the Roos so far this season in batting average (.459), hits (17), on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.703).

The softball team is scheduled to play next on Friday at Cazenovia College. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.

Goolden finished with five goals and four assists as the women's lacrosse team split a pair of contests this week. The sophomore had an impressive game with four goals and four assists in a 21-4 win against Cazenovia College on Saturday. She had eight shots on goal on the week five of which found the back of the net.

The women's lacrosse team is back in action Wednesday in a neutral site game against Green Mountain College that will be played at Castleton State College. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
