ANNVILLE, PA (02/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Arizona State University professor Dr. Alon Segev will discuss the question "Is healthy moral?" and will argue that ethics are not isolated from health or the healthy condition of the human in an upcoming presentation. Segev's program is a part of Lebanon Valley College's Colloquium on HEALTH, and is scheduled for Mar. 17 at 7 p.m. in Zimmerman Recital Hall at the Suzanne H. Arnold Gallery. Admission is free and open to the public.
Specializing in German-Jewish thought and continental philosophy of the 20th century, Segev is currently a professor of philosophy and religion at Cologne University and a visiting professor at the Center for Jewish Studies at Arizona State University.
From 2003 to 2008, Segev was the Max Plan "Minerva" Fellow at Heidelberg University. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Pittsburgh, Stanford University, and The University of Pennsylvania.
Segev received his Ph.D. from the philosophy department of Haifa University. Additionally, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
HEALTH is a year-long integrated series of guest speakers and films that highlight and inform the various factors involved in society's consideration of its health policy. It will involve discussions on the politics of health care reform, sickness, aging, fitness, mental and eating disorders, and spiritual well-being involving thinkers and speakers from the sciences, arts, and public policy.
