PHILADELPHIA, PA (10/22/2010)(readMedia)-- University of the Sciences has announced that Bruce R. Canaday, PharmD, FASHP, FAPhA has been appointed chair of Philadelphia College of Pharmacy's Department of Pharmacy Practice/Pharmacy Administration. Dr. Canaday brings a wealth of experience as a clinician and educator with a broad range of administrative experience and accomplishments.
Most recently, Dr. Canaday served as vice-chair for the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Experiential Education at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He was also director of the Department of Pharmacotherapy at South East Area Health Education Center where he taught doctor of pharmacy students and coordinated, conducted, and presented continuing education programs. Dr. Canaday has been extremely active in professional organizations and is one of only a handful of people who have served as both president of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the American Pharmacists Association. Recently, he was appointed to the board of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Dr. Canaday has numerous publications and is the recipient of many awards, including recently being presented the Phi Lambda Sigma National Leadership Award in March 2010.
A graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor of science in pharmacy and the University of Tennessee with a PharmD degree, Dr. Canaday is no a stranger to the University of the Sciences' campus. In 2007, he served as the keynote speaker at PCP's fifth annual white coat ceremony.
Dr. Canaday relocated to the Philadelphia region from North Carolina with his wife, Victoria.
