Dr. Michael H. Rosenberg Elected President of State Medical Society

LAKE SUCCESS, NY (04/21/2008)(readMedia)-- Michael H. Rosenberg, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon who practices in Mount Kisco and Purchase was elected president of the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) at its 202nd annual House of Delegates meeting in Rye Brook, NY, on April 12. In this role he will help oversee all of the public health and legislative activities of the state’s principal professional organization for physicians.

Dr. Rosenberg graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University and stayed to earn his medical degree from Columbia’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. His seven years of residency training were at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident during both his general surgery residency training and his plastic and reconstructive surgery training. Dr. Rosenberg is certified by the American Boards of Surgery, of Plastic Surgery, of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and of Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Rosenberg is now an attending plastic surgeon at Northern Westchester Hospital, where he serves on the hospital’s board of trustees and has admitting privileges at the Westchester Medical Center. He is a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps and was called to active duty in 2003; he is also a volunteer in the MSSNY Bio-Terrorism First Responder program.

Dr. Rosenberg is well prepared for his new role at MSSNY, having already served as president of the state’s Ninth District Branch Medical Society and the Westchester County Medical Society. He has also been treasurer of both MSSNY and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and vice-chaired MSSNY’s membership committee, lobbied for its Legislative Advocacy Committee and represented MSSNY as a delegate to the AMA’s policy-setting meetings. He also served MSSNY at the AMA from 2000-2001 as MSSNY’s representative from the Young Physicians Section.

Dr. Rosenberg is married to Lee Gruber, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist and MSSNY member. They have four children between the ages of 5 and 14 – Tyler, Ashley, Dean and Meryl.

More than 300 delegates attended the House of Delegates, April 11-13, to set policy, elect new leaders and recognize the achievements of their colleagues. The primary mission of the not-for-profit Medical Society of the State of New York is to represent the interests of patients and physicians to assure quality healthcare services for all.
