Drew Davis of Wisconsin Dells honored by college alma mater

Journalist to receive Outstanding Young Alumni award

RIPON, WI (06/19/2012)(readMedia)-- Drew Davis, originally of Wisconsin Dells, will be honored with the Outstanding Young Alumni award at Ripon College during its annual alumni awards banquet Friday, June 22. He graduated from the college in 2007.

Davis currently resides in the Washington, D.C. area as a columnist for Capital Newspapers, specializing in foreign affairs, national security, defense, domestic politics and human interest. Before this, he was the executive director for The Pax Americana Institute, a think tank devoted to advancing the virtues and values of classical conservatism.

Drew received a master's degree in intelligence, national security and international affairs from the George H.W. Bush School of Government and Public Service. He also worked as a police officer in Wisconsin Dells and was awarded the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Outstanding Traffic Enforcement Award in 2005.

He is the son of Brad and Jodi Davis of Wisconsin Dells. While he is not working, Drew enjoys teaching Catholic religious education and mixed martial arts as a hand-to-hand combat instructor.

The Distinguished Alumni Citation recognizes those alumni who, in thought and deed, embody the highest ideals and aspirations of a Ripon College education. Candidates may be selected based on any one of the following criteria: distinction in his/her chosen field or profession (distinctive achievement); rendering outstanding service to his/her country, state or community (outstanding service); or rendering outstanding service to and demonstrating a loyal and active interest in Ripon College (meritorious service). members of the faculty, administration, individual alumni, and groups or alumni clubs through the Office of the Annual Fund, Alumni Relations and Parent Programs for presentation to the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
