Dunkirk Student Awarded Pat Collins Calvert County Scholarship

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (12/02/2011)(readMedia)-- Kathleen Ramsey of Dunkirk, Maryland, has been awarded a Pat Collins Calvert County Scholarship at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The scholarship was established by Ann Collins in 2003 in memory of her husband and benefits students from Calvert County with academic merit and financial need.
Ramsey, Class of 2012, is majoring in English with minors in environmental studies and economics. She is currently studying abroad in Australia. On campus, Ramsey is involved with the Eco Reps, works for the St. Mary's phone outreach program, and plays on the women's varsity tennis team. Ramsey intends to pursue a career in outreach for an environmental nonprofit and hopes to publish at least one of the novels she is currently working on.
St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
