Duo Terlano Opens Kutztown University Faculty Artist Series

KUTZTOWN, PA (09/13/2017) Duo Terlano, the award-winning teaching and performing team of Dr. Johannes Dietrich, violin, and Dr. Marie-Aline Cadieux, cello, will offer a recital on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 3 p.m. in the Georgian Room of Old Main. Richard Pearson Thomas, composer and pianist, will offer a workshop at 1 p.m. in room 13G of Schaeffer Auditorium. Both events are free and open to the public.

On the program is a newly-commissioned piece by Thomas, called "They Were Dancing." The performance will be the world-premiere of the piece. Also on the program are duos by Campioni and Spohr, a samba by Barros and solo works by Prokofiev and Kodaly.

Cadieux is a professor of music at Kutztown University and has become an established presence in the Mid-Atlantic chamber music scene. She served for many years as Principal Cellist for the Illinois Symphony and Illinois Chamber Orchestra, as well as festival orchestras including those at Aspen, the Blossom Music Festival, and Great Music West, traveling Broadway shows, and dance companies such as the Mark Morris Dance Group.

Dietrich joined the faculty of Lebanon Valley College in 1995. As the Newton and Adelaide Burgner Professor in instrumental music, he directs the LVC Symphony Orchestra, teaches conducting, string methods, applied violin and viola and coaches chamber music ensembles.

Thomas is currently on faculty at Teachers College/Columbia University. He has taught at Yale and the University of Central Florida. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Southern California.
