ETHOS Semester of Service Fall 2018

The ETHOS Dayton Local Immersion program aims to encourage growth through experiential learning, creation of intentional community and support from local agencies. The semester-long placements require students to take time off from traditional academic study in order to participate in service-learning projects in social service agencies throughout the City of Dayton and surrounding areas. The goal of local immersions is to expand the worldview of participants and empower them through experience and knowledge to become lifelong advocates for social change.

ETHOS, Engineers in Technical Humanitarian Opportunities of Service Learning seeks to provide service-learning experiences through technical immersions, student activities, research and hands-on projects. Through these experiences, students have gained perspectives on how engineering and technology are influenced by the world. Participating students have been able to use their engineering skills for humanitarian purposes, serving others through practical engineering knowledge. Our alumni learn about the world, different cultures and themselves."

17 years in the making, the ETHOS center was founded in 2001 by a team of engineering students, ETHOS was created to take engineering curriculum beyond the classroom, even beyond this country.
